Increases Physician Assistant Committee membership from two to three physician assistants appointed by the State Board of Medical Licensure and Supervision.

Permits supervising physicians to be available to physician assistants through telemedicine in addition to direct telecommunications, and requires supervising physicians to review a sample of outpatient medical records at the practice site.

Requires supervising physicians to determine which conditions qualify as complex illnesses based on the clinical setting and skill level of the physician assistant, rather than applying fixed criteria.

Deletes the requirement that physician assistants obtain State Board approval prior to practicing in remote patient care settings, though board authority to establish standards remains.

Modifies penalties for unlicensed practice by physician assistants to clarify they are subject to penalties applicable to unlicensed practice of medicine if they hold themselves out as physician assistants or act as one without licensure.
