Senate Bill 8 Summary

• Amends 47 O.S. 2011, Section 2-303 to modify the composition and operations of the Oklahoma Law Enforcement Retirement Board, which administers the Oklahoma Law Enforcement Retirement System fund.

• Changes language throughout the statute from gender-specific pronouns (his) to gender-neutral pronouns (his or her) when referring to board members and system participants.

• Maintains the board's composition of ex officio members (Commissioner of Public Safety, Director of Office of Management and Enterprise Services) and appointed members from the Governor, Speaker of the House, President Pro Tempore of the Senate, and elected representatives from various law enforcement agencies.

• Retains existing requirements that appointed board members demonstrate professional experience in investment management, funds management, pension fund management, banking, law practice, or accounting.

• Becomes effective November 1, 2015.
