OK SJR24

Orders a legislative referendum to be submitted to voters at the next General Election to prohibit smoking in public places, including both indoor and outdoor areas open to the public.

Expands smoking prohibitions to include outdoor public places and removes exemptions for stand-alone bars, stand-alone taverns, and cigar bars that currently allow smoking.

Maintains limited exemptions for private residences, retail tobacco stores, private offices, workplaces with only owner/family, medical research facilities, and licensed charitable bingo operations.

Establishes 25-foot smoke-free buffer zones around entrances and exits of state buildings, county/municipal buildings, and educational facilities; requires signage at entrances indicating smoke-free status.

Prescribes penalties of $10 to $100 fines for violations and directs the President Pro Tempore of the Senate to file the referendum order with the Secretary of State and Attorney General.
