HB 1526 - Seniors Prescription Safety Act of 2016

• Establishes the "Seniors Prescription Safety Act of 2016" to modify prescription label requirements in Oklahoma.

• Requires practitioners or their medical/administrative staff to notify patients or authorized representatives of their right to have prescription labels include the symptom or purpose for which the drug is prescribed.

• Allows the symptom or purpose to appear on prescription labels using no more than two words if provided by the practitioner and requested by the patient or authorized representative.

• Shields practitioners and their staff from civil liability based solely on providing symptom or purpose information on prescription labels.

• Becomes effective November 1, 2016.
