HB 1730 Summary

• Prohibits public officers and their employees from using public monies to advocate or promote gun control.

• Bans use of publicity, propaganda, kits, pamphlets, publications, and electronic or broadcast media designed to support or defeat gun control legislation, ordinances, rules, regulations, or administrative actions.

• Prohibits payment of salaries or expenses for grant or contract recipients engaged in activities designed to influence gun control-related legislation, ordinances, rules, regulations, or administrative actions.

• Prohibits advocacy or promotion of proposed, pending, or future federal, state, or local tax increases relating to gun control or restrictions on legal consumer products related to gun control advocacy.

• Effective date: November 1, 2015.
