Amends the definition of "mentor teacher" under the Oklahoma Teacher Preparation Act to allow current or former classroom teachers to serve as mentors, removing the previous requirement that mentors be currently employed in a school district

Removes the requirement that mentor teachers hold a standard certificate, while retaining the minimum 2 years of classroom teaching experience requirement

Eliminates the preference that mentor teachers be assigned to the same school site as the resident teacher they are mentoring

Effective date of July 1, 2016, with an emergency clause allowing immediate effect upon passage and approval
