Elected officials are prohibited from using their name, image, likeness, or voice in public service announcements, advertisements, or promotional messages funded with public money within 3 months prior to an election in which they appear on the ballot

The restriction does not apply during declared state disasters or emergencies, including events covered by a Governor's State of Emergency Proclamation or Presidential Declaration of a Federal Major Disaster

Other disaster or emergency events requiring good-faith response may also qualify for the exception if designated by another authorized state official
