Increases required security drills from 2 lockdown drills to 4 security drills per school year at each Oklahoma public school, with no more than 2 per semester and one required within the first 15 days of each semester

Eliminates the previous requirement for 2 separate intruder drills per school year, reducing total required safety drills from 8 to 6

Changes terminology from "lockdown drills" to "security drills" throughout the statute and expands the scope to address threats "around or in" the school rather than just "on or near"

Requires districts to determine the extent of student involvement in security drills, while all students and employees must still participate

Effective date of July 1, 2016, with an emergency clause allowing immediate effect upon passage and approval
