Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services may implement a voluntary pilot program providing medication-assisted treatment to drug court participants with alcohol or opioid dependence, subject to funding availability

Only FDA-approved drugs for preventing relapse to alcohol or opioid dependence may be used, combined with appropriate support services

Participation is voluntary; refusal to participate cannot be grounds for termination from the drug court program

Participants must be Medicaid-eligible or have other funding (state, federal, or private grant) that covers full treatment costs

Treatment providers must be Department-approved and conduct comprehensive substance abuse and mental health assessments; effective date November 1, 2016
