Extends the termination date for local firefighter pension and retirement boards from December 31, 2000 to December 31, 2016

Upon termination, the Executive Director assumes all powers, duties, and functions of local boards

Fire departments may continue their local boards if a majority of active firefighters vote to do so before the termination date

An election to continue a local board must be held within 20 days of receiving a petition signed by at least 10% of active firefighters

Effective date of July 1, 2016, with emergency clause for immediate effect upon passage and approval
