Municipal law enforcement handles individuals within city limits; county sheriffs are responsible for individuals outside municipal jurisdiction but within the county

Law enforcement agencies may contract with third parties to provide transportation services, provided the third party meets minimum standards set by the Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services

Law enforcement agencies are exempt from liability for actions of their commissioned peace officers when those officers provide transportation services as third-party contractors outside their primary employment
