Oklahoma Senate Bill 1202 - CLEET Council Composition and Training Requirements

• Modifies the population thresholds for two sheriff positions on the 13-member CLEET Council: one seat now represents counties under 25,000 population (previously 50,000), and another represents counties with 25,000 or more population (previously 100,000)

• Replaces the "immediate past chair of CLEET" council seat with a full-time law enforcement officer in good standing from a county under 50,000 population, appointed by the Oklahoma Sheriffs and Peace Officers Association

• Establishes new mandatory continuing education for reserve peace officers beginning January 1, 2017: minimum 8 hours annually including 1 hour on mental health issues

• Authorizes CLEET to charge law enforcement agencies up to $20 per day for breakfast and lunch expenses during peace officer training, with funds deposited to the Peace Officer Revolving Fund

• Declares an emergency, making the act effective immediately upon passage and approval
