Candidates for district judge or associate district judge must be a registered voter and resident of the appropriate county for at least 6 months prior to the filing period

Appointees filling vacancies when no one files for office are exempt from the 6-month residency and registration requirements

Persons removed from judicial office or who resigned while facing disciplinary proceedings are disqualified from filing as judicial candidates

Governor may fill vacancies in district or associate district judge positions by calling a special election or by appointing from a list provided by the Judicial Nominating Commission
