Amends 57 O.S. 2011, Section 510 to modify the Director of the Department of Corrections' powers and duties regarding penal institutions.

Directs the Director to designate all CLEET-certified correctional officers as peace officers, rather than limiting designation to only those in positions requiring it.

Maintains existing qualifications for correctional officers hired after November 1, 1995, including minimum age of 20 years, educational requirements, training completion, and annual physical examinations.

Specifies that peace officer authority is limited to maintaining custody of prisoners, preventing escapes, pursuing and recapturing escapees, and serving warrants.

Becomes effective November 1, 2016.
