SB1483 Summary

• Amends unprofessional conduct definitions for both allopathic and osteopathic physicians to include performing abortion with intention other than to increase probability of live birth, preserve life or health of child after live birth, remove ectopic pregnancy, or remove dead unborn child from spontaneous miscarriage, accidental trauma, or criminal assault.

• Requires State Board of Medical Licensure and Supervision to revoke licenses of allopathic physicians performing abortions in Oklahoma, and requires State Board of Osteopathic Examiners to revoke licenses of osteopathic physicians performing abortions in the state.

• Prohibits any physician participating in abortion performance from obtaining or renewing a license to practice medicine in Oklahoma.

• Requires State Board of Medical Licensure and Supervision, State Board of Osteopathic Examiners, and State Board of Health to promulgate rules implementing the act's provisions.

• Effective date: November 1, 2016.
