SB1526 Summary

• Abolishes the Physician Manpower Training Commission effective July 1, 2016, transferring all powers, duties, employees, functions, and assets to the Oklahoma Department of Commerce.

• Modifies loan repayment programs for the Oklahoma Medical Loan Repayment Program, including changes to physician eligibility, performance review periods, and conditions requiring loan repayment.

• Restructures scholarship and fund management by clarifying and limiting fund utilization for the Oklahoma Rural Medical Education Loan and Scholarship Fund and Community Physician Education Scholarship Program Fund.

• Amends nursing and physician assistant programs including the Nursing Student Assistance Program, Osteopathic Internship and Residency Program, and Physician Assistant Scholarship Program, with modifications to repayment obligations and interest calculations.

• Creates revolving funds and transfers rules to the Department of Commerce, with all administrative rules promulgated by the Commission becoming part of the Department's administrative rules effective July 1, 2016.
