Senate Bill 1537 Summary

• Designates the State Department of Health as responsible for developing and implementing a statewide Oklahoma telemedicine network and telehealth system.

• Requires the State Board of Health to establish a separate Oklahoma Center for Telemedicine within the State Department of Health with a director appointed by the State Commissioner of Health.

• Authorizes the Oklahoma Health Care Authority to provide reimbursement consistent with Federal guidelines for telemedicine services delivered to Oklahoma Medicaid Program participants, subject to funding availability.

• Directs the State Board of Health and Oklahoma Health Care Authority Board to promulgate rules for teleradiology implementation based on American College of Radiology Standards for Teleradiology.

• Becomes effective November 1, 2016.
