SB 1546 Summary

• Amends 63 O.S. 2011, Section 1-1911 to modify inspection requirements for nursing facilities, including those operated by the Oklahoma Department of Veterans Affairs.

• Requires a minimum of one inspection every five years at each facility to be conducted outside normal business hours during the week or on a Saturday or Sunday.

• Mandates the State Department of Health conduct at least one unannounced inspection per calendar year of all nursing facilities operated by the Oklahoma Department of Veterans Affairs.

• Establishes that one person from a statewide organization of the elderly shall be invited to act as a citizen observer in unannounced inspections, with expenses reimbursed under the State Travel Reimbursement Act.

• Effective November 1, 2016.
