SB 1547 Summary

• Amends Section 1-103a.1 of the Oklahoma Statutes to modify the structure and jurisdiction of five Public Health Advisory Councils created to advise the State Board of Health and State Department of Health.

• Expands the Home Care, Hospice and Palliative Care Advisory Council's jurisdiction to include reviewing cases involving deaths of vulnerable adults resulting from systemic failures in the state's home care, hospice and palliative care industry.

• Requires all Advisory Councils to submit annual recommendations to the Legislature regarding changes in state law or administrative rules by December 31st of each year.

• Specifies membership composition for each council with appointments by the Governor, President Pro Tempore of Senate, Speaker of House, and State Board of Health, with three-year terms and meeting requirements of at least twice yearly but no more than four times yearly.

• Effective November 1, 2016.
