SB 1549 Summary

• Amends 62 O.S. 2011, Section 2309 to broaden the scope of allowable uses of Tobacco Settlement Endowment Trust Fund earnings to include public health programs, specifically including but not limited to the Oklahoma Medicaid Program.

• Authorizes the Board of Directors to expend trust fund earnings for capital expenditures and operating expenses of the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center and Oklahoma State University College of Osteopathic Medicine for educational programs and residency training.

• Clarifies language throughout the statute by replacing references to "Board of Directors" with "Board" and updating subsection lettering from C through I to D through J.

• Maintains existing Board authority to develop grant programs, establish competitive selection processes, and manage confidentiality of grant solicitations and applications under the Oklahoma Open Records Act and Oklahoma Open Meeting Act.

• Becomes effective upon certification of election returns favoring passage of the Constitutional Amendment proposed in Senate Joint Resolution No. 71 of the 2nd Session of the 55th Oklahoma Legislature.
