SB 1553 Summary

• Authorizes the Department of Human Services to permit licensed child care facilities to contract with private entities for training and certification purposes.

• Requires the Department to ensure that eligibility criteria for child care subsidies match the criteria provided by the federal Child Care Development and Block Grant Act of 2014 (P.L. 113-76).

• Establishes a Child Care Facility Peer Review Board created by the advisory committee to participate in the Department's grievance process, with the Department required to promulgate rules specifying its duties.

• Prohibits any changes to a child care facility's differential quality and improvement rating without prior approval by the Child Care Advisory Committee.

• Becomes effective November 1, 2016.
