Senate Bill 8 Summary

• Amends 47 O.S. 2011, Section 2-303 to modify the Oklahoma Law Enforcement Retirement Board composition and governance structure.

• Changes gender-specific pronouns to gender-neutral language throughout the statute ("his or her" instead of "his").

• Maintains existing board membership structure: Commissioner of Public Safety, Director of Office of Management and Enterprise Services, three Governor-appointed members (including one retired trooper from Retired Troopers Association), Speaker and President Pro Tempore appointees, and elected members from various law enforcement agencies.

• Requires appointed board members to have professional experience in investment management, public/private pension funds, banking, law practice, or accounting; bars registered lobbyists from board membership.

• Becomes effective November 1, 2015.
