HB 1985 Summary

• Amends 22 O.S. 2011, Section 173 to require arrest warrants be signed by the magistrate at the time of issuance.

• Deems an arrest warrant invalid if the magistrate does not sign it at the time the warrant is issued.

• Retains existing warrant requirements including specification of defendant's name, offense, time of issuance, and location.

• Retains requirement that bail amount be fixed and endorsed on the warrant for bailable offenses.

• Effective date: November 1, 2017.
