HB2349 Summary

• Updates Oklahoma teacher minimum salary schedule to take effect beginning the 2017-2018 school year, replacing the prior 2013-2014 schedule with increased pay across all education levels and years of experience.

• Establishes four education tier categories (Bachelor's Degree, National Board Certification, Master's Degree, and Doctor's Degree) with salary ranges from $32,600 to $47,000 for teachers with 0-25 years of experience.

• Defines "fringe benefits" as retirement benefits and flexible benefit allowances, excluding certain contributions, which can be counted toward meeting minimum salary requirements.

• Requires school districts to provide written notice to teachers at least 30 days in advance if they intend to provide retirement benefits that would result in total compensation below the minimum salary schedule.

• Becomes effective July 1, 2017, contingent upon enactment of House Bill No. 2414 of the 1st Regular Session of the 56th Legislature.
