SB537 Summary

• Requires law enforcement agencies to make asset forfeiture annual reports publicly available to the Governor, President Pro Tempore of the Senate, Speaker of the House of Representatives, and State Auditor and Inspector, identifying seized property and its disposition.

• Adds annual asset forfeiture reports to the list of law enforcement records that must be made available for public inspection under Section 24A.8 of Title 51.

• Amends civil asset forfeiture procedures in Section 2-506 of Title 63 to require detailed annual reporting and public disclosure of seized property and forfeiture outcomes.

• Effective date: November 1, 2017.
