Expands drug court program objectives to target medium to high risk offenders and requires collection of specific data on recidivism, arrests, convictions, violations, and risk assessments.

Removes district attorney approval and objection requirements for initial drug court consideration, allowing offenders to request entry based on eligibility criteria instead.

Prohibits offenders assessed as low risk from admission to drug court programs and requires reassessment at revocation hearings with consideration of alternative treatment plans before revocation.

Provides sentencing options for offenders who successfully complete drug court or mental health court programs, including dismissal for first felony offenses or deferred judgment, suspended sentences, community sentencing, or dismissal for offenders with prior convictions.

Effective November 1, 2017.
