Senate Bill 665 Summary

• Creates the Joint Legislative Work Schedule Task Force to study the effects of employers changing work hours and schedules with little or no notice on hourly and salaried employees.

• Task Force membership includes the principal authors from Senate and House, members of the Senate Business, Commerce and Tourism Committee, members of the House Business, Labor and Retirement Laws Committee, and the Commissioner of Labor or designee.

• Task Force shall conclude meetings and study by December 15, 2017, with a final report distributed to the President Pro Tempore, Speaker of the House, Commissioner of Labor, and Task Force members by December 31, 2017.

• Task Force shall study collateral issues including childcare, transportation, and other matters related to work schedules and their community impact.

• Legislative members may receive travel reimbursement for official meetings; act becomes effective July 1, 2017, with an emergency declaration for immediate implementation.
