Municipalities, including charter-governed cities, must restrict their ordinances, resolutions, rules and regulations to conform with state statutes on discrimination in employment or accommodations unless expressly authorized by state statute.

Municipalities are prohibited from implementing regulations that conflict with, expand, or are more stringent than state statutes relating to discrimination in employment or accommodations, regardless of when the state statute takes effect.

Counties and political subdivisions are subject to the same conformity requirements as municipalities, restricting their jurisdiction to align with state statutes on the same subjects unless expressly authorized by statute.

Political subdivisions cannot implement ordinances, resolutions, rules, policies or regulations that conflict with, expand, or are more stringent than state statutes relating to discrimination in employment or accommodations.

The act becomes effective November 1, 2017.
