SB 730 Summary

• Removes provisions allowing Oklahoma state veterans centers to have outdoor designated smoking areas from January 1, 2015 through January 1, 2018, making all such centers entirely nonsmoking effective January 1, 2018.

• Amends the Smoking in Public Places and Indoor Workplaces Act (21 O.S. § 1247) and related statute (63 O.S. § 1-1523) by deleting language that permitted outdoor smoking areas for resident veterans during the specified transition period.

• Maintains all other smoking restrictions and exemptions under existing law, including exemptions for bars, cigar bars, charitable bingo operations, certain workplaces, and private residences.

• Updates statutory reference from "Section 3 of this act" to the correct cite "1210.213 of Title 70 of the Oklahoma Statutes" regarding tobacco-free schools.

• Becomes effective November 1, 2017.
