Oklahoma Health Care Authority shall designate eligible hospitals for creating new residency training programs to serve medically underserved areas in consultation with Oklahoma State University College of Osteopathic Medicine and University of Oklahoma College of Medicine.

Authority is authorized to contract with both medical colleges to provide funding for establishing new residency training programs under the Oklahoma Hospital Residency Training Program Act.

Students who are Oklahoma residents or in good academic standing with an accredited medical college in the state shall receive priority consideration for clinical rotations at state-funded health care facilities; "resident" is defined as an individual who lived in Oklahoma at the time of high school graduation.

Authority shall establish reporting mechanisms for eligible hospitals to monitor progress of new residency training programs and present operational reports to the Governor and Legislature within one month of each regular legislative session.

Act becomes effective November 1, 2017.
