HB 1026 Summary

• Creates a new misdemeanor offense in Oklahoma Statutes (Title 21, Section 650.12) for assault, battery, or assault and battery against security officers, private investigators, or bail enforcers without justifiable cause and with intent to do bodily harm.

• Establishes penalties of up to one year imprisonment in county jail, a fine not exceeding $1,000, or both for conviction of the new offense.

• Defines "security officer" as a state-licensed armed or unarmed security officer wearing a uniform or distinctive badge identifying their employing firm or agency, engaged in lawful duties at the time of the incident.

• Defines "private investigator" as a state-licensed armed or unarmed investigator wearing distinctive clothing with identifying emblem or badge, or providing proof of employment, engaged in lawful duties at the time of the incident.

• Defines "bail enforcer" as a state-licensed armed or unarmed bail enforcer wearing distinctive clothing with identifying emblem, logo, or badge, engaged in lawful duties at the time of the incident.

• Takes effect November 1, 2025.
