HB 1259 Summary

• Authorizes persons 21 years of age or older (or 18-20 if military member/veteran) to carry concealed handguns at polling places during state, county, and municipal elections without a handgun license requirement.

• Amends firearm carry laws to allow concealed handguns at polling places located on public and private school property during elections, with the same age and military status qualifications.

• Adds immunity from liability for the state, political subdivisions, and their officers for actions or misconduct by persons carrying concealed handguns at polling places during elections.

• Makes technical amendments to Sections 1272, 1277, 1280.1, and 1290.24 of Title 21 of the Oklahoma Statutes to incorporate polling place exceptions into existing firearm carry prohibitions.

• Takes effect November 1, 2025.
