HB 1358 Summary

• Authorizes persons with valid handgun licenses to carry concealed handguns on public college, university, and technology center school property and buildings, except in restricted areas.

• Allows public colleges, universities, and technology center schools to prohibit firearms at event venues where tickets of monetary value are required for entry (athletic, theatrical, musical, or similar events).

• Removes written consent requirement and eliminates administrative fines and license suspension procedures for violations at college/university properties.

• Provides immunity from liability for public and private colleges, universities, and technology center schools for accidental injuries or self-defense acts involving firearms, except in cases of willful or wanton misconduct.

• Becomes effective November 1, 2025.
