HB 1692 Summary

• Amends 25 O.S. 2021, Section 82.1 to designate the day any General Election is held as an official state holiday in Oklahoma.

• Adds election day to the existing list of state holidays that includes New Year's Day, Martin Luther King Jr.'s Birthday, Presidents' Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Veterans' Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and related days.

• State employees (except temporary and limited term employees) are entitled to a day off without loss of pay on holidays specified by the Governor's Executive Order, or may receive an alternative day off or payment in lieu at the appointing authority's discretion.

• Agencies whose mission does not require continuous operation shall be closed for official business on designated holidays.

• Becomes effective November 1, 2025.
