HB 1847 Summary

• Department of Human Services shall work with Oklahoma State Fire Marshal to develop guidelines allowing family child care homes and large child care homes to operate under the 2018 International Residential Code as adopted by the Oklahoma Uniform Building Code Commission (OUBCC).

• Family child care homes and large child care homes shall not be denied a license if they comply with the guidelines established by the Department and Oklahoma State Fire Marshal.

• No state agency, municipality, county, or political subdivision may impose fire and life safety requirements stricter than those outlined in the 2018 International Residential Code on family child care homes and large child care homes.

• Codified as Section 1000.31 of Title 59 of the Oklahoma Statutes.

• Effective November 1, 2025.
