OK HB1936

Increases State Board of Education membership from seven (7) to eleven (11) members, with the State Superintendent of Public Instruction serving as chairperson and the remaining ten (10) members appointed as follows: six by the Governor (with Senate confirmation), two by the House Speaker, and two by the Senate President Pro Tempore.

Requires gubernatorial appointees to be confirmed by the Senate at the next legislative session, and allows all members to serve at the pleasure of their appointing authority rather than fixed terms.

Directs the appointing authority to fill vacancies within the unexpired term, with gubernatorial-appointed vacancies subject to Senate confirmation.

Establishes that on the effective date, all current State Board positions are deemed vacant and terms terminated, with initial appointments to be made within thirty (30) days and terminating on April 2, 2015.

Becomes effective November 1, 2025.
