Landlords, owners, and operators of apartments and hotels must require all employees to undergo background screening as a condition of employment, including criminal history and sex offender registry checks across all 50 states and Washington D.C.

Employers may disqualify applicants convicted of felonies or first-degree misdemeanors involving disregard for others' safety, or any violent crimes including murder, sexual battery, robbery, carjacking, home invasion, or stalking

Apartments and hotels must maintain logs tracking the issuance and return of all dwelling unit keys and establish written policies governing key management and storage of unissued keys

Hotels are prohibited from offering hourly rates for accommodations, though late checkout fees charged hourly are exempt from this restriction
