HB 2035 Summary

• Amends 59 O.S. 2021, Section 396.2 to add and clarify definitions under the Funeral Services Licensing Act.

• Adds new definitions for "alkaline hydrolysis" (reduction of human remains using heat, pressure, water and base chemical agents) and "crematory" (facility containing furnace or alkaline hydrolysis vessel).

• Defines "transportation protection agreement" as coordination and arrangement of professional services for preparation and transportation of human remains or cremated remains, which is exempt from funeral service merchandise regulations and insurance code requirements.

• Clarifies existing definitions for embalmer, funeral director, funeral establishment, apprentice, and other related terms in the funeral services industry.

• Takes effect November 1, 2025.
