HB2379 Summary

• Establishes the "Doran Act of 2025" requiring each health spa to maintain at least one automated external defibrillator (AED) on premises in an accessible location.

• Defines "health spa" to include for-profit and nonprofit fitness facilities, martial arts organizations, college fitness centers, country clubs, and similar entities offering exercise equipment or memberships.

• Requires unstaffed health spas to provide 9-1-1 telephone access and display signs indicating AED location and instructions for use and cardiopulmonary resuscitation.

• Provides immunity from lawsuits against health spas and employees regarding AED use or nonuse unless the spa failed to purchase a required defibrillator or acted with gross negligence.

• Makes health spa service contracts voidable at the buyer's option if the spa fails to comply with AED requirements; effective November 1, 2025.
