HB2737 Summary

• Amends the definition of "neglect" in the Oklahoma Children's Code (10A O.S. 2021, Section 1-1-105) to add a prohibition on the use of medical marijuana by pregnant women regardless of whether they possess a valid medical marijuana patient license.

• Expands the list of activities that do not constitute neglect when a child engages in them independently, including traveling to school, outdoor play, remaining home unattended for reasonable periods, and remaining in vehicles at safe temperatures.

• Maintains existing exceptions that children cannot be considered abused or neglected solely due to parents relying on spiritual means through prayer in accordance with recognized religious denominations for treatment or cure of disease.

• Becomes effective November 1, 2025.
