HB 2824 Summary

• Prohibits persons, property owners, tenants, employers, and business entities from establishing or enforcing policies that ban transporting and storing firearms or ammunition in locked motor vehicles on property set aside for motor vehicles, except for convicted felons.

• Allows individuals to bring civil actions to enforce these protections, with courts required to award actual damages, injunctions, court costs, and attorney fees to prevailing plaintiffs.

• Permits employees to transport firearms or legal weapons in their own or personally rented/leased motor vehicles while conducting business, and prohibits business entities from preventing such transport through policy or rule.

• Exempts claims under the Administrative Workers' Compensation Act from these provisions and defines "motor vehicle" as automobiles, trucks, minivans, SUVs, motorcycles, motor scooters, and other vehicles requiring Oklahoma registration.

• Becomes effective November 1, 2025.
