Each Oklahoma school district board of education must adopt a policy prohibiting students from using cell phones and personal electronic devices on campus from bell to bell (start to end of instructional day) for the 2025-2026 school year.

Beginning in the 2026-2027 school year and thereafter, school district boards of education may optionally adopt such a policy rather than being required to do so.

All policies must include disciplinary procedures for violations of the cell phone and personal electronic device restrictions.

Policies may include exceptions for emergency use of devices and for students who use devices to monitor health issues.

School-issued or school-approved devices that are specifically limited for classroom instruction are exempt from the prohibition.
