• Eliminates charges for two copies of original transcripts furnished by the court to all parties in civil and criminal cases.

• Updates statutory language by changing "herein contained" to "in this section" for modernization purposes.

• Maintains Supreme Court authority to set fees for certified copies of original transcripts beyond the two free copies provided to parties.

• Preserves existing provisions allowing judges to order transcripts at district court expense for criminal defendants who demonstrate financial inability to pay and good faith intent to appeal.

• Becomes effective November 1, 2025.
