Replaces "maternity leave" with "parental leave" throughout Section 840-2.20D to apply to both birth and adoption scenarios.

Full-time state employees, including those at Oklahoma State System of Higher Education institutions, with at least 2 years of service are entitled to 6 weeks of paid parental leave following birth or adoption of a child.

Parental leave is in addition to, not in place of, sick leave due to pregnancy under Section 840-2.20.

Employees on parental leave receive their annual salary without interruption and service is considered uninterrupted for purposes of seniority, pay advancement, performance awards, and benefit eligibility.

The Director of the Office of Management and Enterprise Services may promulgate rules to implement the provisions; bill becomes effective only if Enrolled Senate Bill No. 87 of the 1st Session of the 60th Oklahoma Legislature becomes effective as law.
