S.B. 410 Summary

• Requires students entering 8th grade in 2026-2027 school year to earn one unit of State Department of Education-approved Computer Science or an industry-aligned career and technology education course with computer science foundations to graduate with a standard diploma.

• Permits Computer Science unit to satisfy one unit requirement under existing graduation pathways in subsections B, C, or D (college preparatory, core curriculum, or modified graduation track).

• Directs State Board of Education to promulgate rules requiring all levels and grades of Oklahoma Academic Standards for Computer Science to include instruction on fundamental concepts of emerging computer science technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI).

• Effective July 1, 2025, with emergency declaration for immediate implementation.
