SB 500 Summary

• Prohibits Oklahoma governmental entities from contracting with companies valued at $100,000 or more (with at least 10 full-time employees) unless the contract includes written verification that the company does not discriminate against firearm entities or firearm trade associations.

• Requires companies to certify they have no practices, policies, guidance, or directives that discriminate against firearm-related businesses and will not do so during the contract term.

• Exceptions apply to contracts with sole-source providers or when no qualifying bids are received from companies able to provide the required written verification.

• Defines "discriminate" to exclude vendor policies restricting ammunition or firearm sales, compliance with federal/state/local laws, and traditional business decisions unrelated to firearm status.

• The Purchasing Division of the Office of Management and Enterprise Services shall review state contracts to confirm compliance; effective date is November 1, 2025.
