SB 569 Summary

• Allows Certified Nurse Practitioners, Clinical Nurse Specialists, and Certified Nurse-Midwives with a minimum of 3 years of supervised prescriptive practice to apply for independent prescriptive authority without physician supervision.

• Requires applicants for independent prescriptive authority to maintain current licensure in good standing and carry minimum malpractice insurance of $1,000,000 per occurrence and $3,000,000 aggregate annually.

• Establishes the Oklahoma Board of Nursing's authority to approve, deny, or revoke independent prescriptive authority applications and to set application fees.

• Directs the Board to promulgate advertising rules for Advanced Practice Registered Nurses and requires the Formulary Advisory Council to develop supervision guidelines for physicians overseeing nurses without independent authority.

• Becomes effective November 1, 2025.
