Senate Bill 734 Summary

• Amends 28 O.S. 2021, Section 153 to increase sheriff's fees for serving writs, warrants, orders, process, commands, notices, or pursuing fugitives from justice within the county from $50.00 to up to $150.00, or mileage as established by Oklahoma Statutes, whichever is greater.

• Increases sheriff's fees for service outside the county from $50.00 to up to $150.00, or actual necessary expenses, whichever is greater.

• Maintains existing court costs for criminal convictions including misdemeanor traffic violations ($98.00), misdemeanors ($93.00), felonies ($103.00), and DUI offenses ($433.00 for both misdemeanor and felony).

• Continues assessment of additional fees beyond base court costs for various purposes including law library fund ($6.00), court information system ($25.00), courthouse security ($10.00), victim services ($3.00), and other designated accounts.

• Takes effect July 1, 2025, with an emergency declaration allowing the act to take effect upon passage and approval.
