S.B. 742 Summary

• Amends 21 O.S. 2021, Section 1277 regarding unlawful carry in certain places and modifies scope of individuals for which lawful carry applies

• Clarifies that persons with valid handgun licenses cannot carry firearms into government buildings, courthouses, prisons, schools, gambling locations, and event venues with minimum-security provisions

• Allows lawful firearm carry on vehicle parking areas, adjacent properties, parks, recreational areas, and school parking lots (with firearms stored in locked vehicles)

• Permits concealed handgun carry on private school property and certain school buses if the private school adopts an authorizing policy

• Becomes effective November 1, 2025
