• First or second conviction for larceny under $1,000 from retail/wholesale establishments is a misdemeanor punishable by up to 30 days in jail and $10-$500 fine; taking multiple items results in $50-$500 fine.

• Third or subsequent conviction for larceny under $1,000 is a misdemeanor punishable by up to 1 year in jail and up to $1,000 fine.

• Larceny of $1,000-$2,500 is a felony punishable by up to 2 years in Department of Corrections custody and up to $1,000 fine; $2,500-$15,000 results in up to 5 years; $15,000 or more results in up to 8 years.

• Three or more separate offenses within 180 days may have values aggregated to determine punishment; individuals committing larceny in concert with others are liable for the aggregate value of all items taken by all participants.

• Shopping cart larceny from retail or wholesale establishments is punishable by up to $500 fine or 30 hours of community service; convictions require restitution to victims; effective November 1, 2025.
